Poems by "Peat" titled - "Roses Once Read"

"I've never written a poem, that wasn't really its draft, each word as if, a sailing ship, to be tacked forever and aft.

choice / shouldn't be chosen lightly / choosing is such a pain / left without any choices / who would you chose to blame?

madras mad / maze my words / paint it plaid / how absurd / shine a light / on darkened verb / make it bright / yet boldly heard

What it is, is what it's not, trouble is, is trouble sought, stupid isn't, if stupid doesn't, truth it isn't, if in truth it wasn't.

May the truth of God's Word prevail, for it fills my sails, may you too soon seek, the Word of God to forever keep

My watch stopped at exactly five o'clock, so now wherever I go, I will always be somewhere.

What pushes my buttons now pushes my pen, like lightning it strikes God only knows when.

if the egg was her idea / then the chicken must have hatched it / chicken / final answer

hook line and sinker / is but hook line and tinker / for this hook line and thinker / of you

Soothe silent song / the Word is His way / inspires me to sing along / for you I just prayed

we pan life's gold / yet its nuggets abound / may a spark to ignite / one's soul be found

You can not patent the obvious, but once a patent issues does it not become patently so?

Dreams like bonds are locked safe in the vault of our subconscious until mature.

He unlocked His heart / to my unanswered door / in praise thou art / forever more!

if a pearl is an oyster's toothache / a pearl of wisdom is more than just its truth

day of new dawn / thwarts napping haze / casting its light / in mysterious ways

Cross your eyes and dot your tees, may your soul soon sigh and hell soon freeze.

set ideals on high / expectations on low / ideas like seeds / need time to grow

May your thirst for God's love be quenched by His tears of joy in you.

paranoia propagates propaganda / propaganda propagates paranoia

hourglass sands / deserts ebb too / oasis its hands / to forever elude

a mentor is / the mentor's pause / inventing is / the inventor's cause

poetry is the art of one's heart / a poem is one's heartbeat heard

the subconscious / is the vault / that keeps safe / our dreams

May you get what you deserve and deserve what you get.

days of old / sings its song / tales of gold / passed along

There's no rhyme or reason why I reason with rhyme.

mind / body / and soul // kind / flabby / and old

now / to begin anew / forever / to be as true

No word should be sharper than its point!

mind / body / and soul / food for thought

means to an end / on patience depends

Simply Smashing / Vodka Splashing

one thousand forevers / just one you

mini / manic / moments
/ in time

Truth twisted is fate resisted.

poem for sale / inquire within

Balloon Pops
/ Time Stops

read it.... / while I weep

Common-law Copyrights

What if young Ms. Nightingale,
Had a copyrighted song,
Would it mean we’d not be allowed,
To simply sing along?

What if old man Webster,
Had a copyrighted book,
Would each word, now be heard,
Simply with our look?

What if God misplaced his key,
To Heaven’s pearly door,
Would it mean we wouldn't pray,
As simply as before?

Treasure of Today
/ Lip to Lore

We wet our lips at the fountain of youth,
To reflect upon a dream of its future truth.

Dreams of perfection won't fade away,
And with you in my life it's here today.
Now the fountain of youth is life itself,
Our dreams fulfilled define our wealth.
Treasure of today for tomorrow to see,
Blossoms on a branch of our family tree.
So quench life's thirst my loving child,
May your dreams come true in epic style.

Newport Critic

Adrift in debris, time washes aground,
Message in a bottle prays to be found.
Riptide sands erode the short day,
Reminds us all to mend our ill ways.

Verse is akin to the hourglass sands,
A vessel of truth, its sparks to be fanned.
Fate rules the day in times high court,
Quenches a thirst for its next new port.

Shifting tides shape our sandbars within,
A vivid mirage of the new day to begin.
Day of new dawn thwarts napping haze,
Casting its light in mysterious ways.

Tides rushing out reveal courage within,
Safe harbor in truth is to harbor no sin.
Riptide sands to lay where they may,
Hourglass sands to dawn the new day.

Wind of Truth

May the breeze of God's Truth prevail,
for it fills the sails of our ships that seek,
the Word of God to ever keep.

There

There is my truth,
and there is your truth.

There is our truth,
and there is their truth.

Then there is the truth,
and thee is over there.

There,
The Truth.

How Hard?

It’s as hard, to jar a jar,
As it is, to par a par.

It’s hard, to mar a mar,
Harder yet, to scar a scar.

The Affinity Inn

Indigent in morale,
The viceroy of lust.

Avarice in desire,
No affinity for trust.

Boisterous in voice,
With bragging a must.

Facetious in verse,
Now morning till dusk.

Wanton in manner,
Life seems a bust.

Travailed in addiction,
Soul but a crust.

Ignoble in character,
The hypnotic white dust.

Poem For Sale / Inquire Within

Poem for sale,
I need a fix,
Poem for sale,
I don’t do tricks.

Poem for sale,
I need a drink,
Poem for sale,
It's not what you think.

Poem for sale,
I need a joint,
Poem for sale,
You don’t get the point.

Poem for sale,
I need to get high,
Poem for sale,
The question is why?

Junebugs

Like junebugs to a flame,
The crack whore scores,
Gideon’s Bible tucked tight,
As she preys for more.

The heightened fear,
Is it fight or flight,
Her saltless tear,
In the endless night.

Giving up won’t do,
In her hour of need,
Blame it on those,
With their lust and greed.

Catch her if you can,
For we all fall down,
Keep her if you can,
From the cold cold ground.

Three Skyys the Limit

Hung-over and hungry,
Caught the last flight,
Three Skyys the limit,
'Twas Halloween night.

Liftoff for the heavens,
That’s as close as I'd get,
Just dining on pretzels,
While stuck on this jet.

I made Mitch’s gold list,
Yet nodded off twice,
Three Skyys the limit,
Was the roll of the dice.

On my way to see Margret,
With her salt on the rim,
I indulged Sam Adams,
By indulging in him.

Her concrete canyons,
Are but now spacious sky,
I toast with Manhattans,
May her soul never die.

Seven bucks for a Ripple,
Ten more for my smokes,
Three Skyys the limit,
Then homeward bound broke.

Concrete Canyons

A very close friend sits at my side,
Knows no evil nor the turning of tides.

He is just my dog and a mutt at that,
While glued to the TV he patiently sat.

The second plane hit it was unreal to see,
Blind to mans nature how I wished I were he.

Concrete canyons are but now spacious sky,
Her children still weep for parents that died.

Assault on our nation religion one cause,
In God We Trust, good reason to pause.

With twisted minds on death hell bent,
Dramatic it was but not heaven sent.

Abused was God’s name taken in vain,
Cruel acts of terror are never ordained.

Soothe Silent Song

Jellyfish Angels under God's vast see,
Cover my ears to the Devil's mad plea.
Shining a light as bright as all day,
Trust in your angels to assure they stay.

Jellyfish Angels beneath God's sea of life,
Sail me away from the Devil’s ill strife.
With dawn’s first light you start each day,
By granting God's children a time for play.

Jellyfish Angels with soothe silent song,
Instilling my right to see all my wrongs.
If ever I'm tricked by the Devil’s sick ways,
My Jellyfish Angels will have the last say.

Jellyfish Angels under God's vast see,
Protect all those so precious to me.
And when time comes to sleep once more,
Jellyfish Angels I pray stand guard my door.

Jellyfish Angels propelled by their hair,
Like the jellyfish swim without any care.
Take delight in the way they dart all about,
Graceful as jellyfish yet leaving no doubt.

Jellyfish Angels appeared in this dream,
Guardian angles it apparently seems.
Strange it may be but I assure you it's true,
I jumped out of bed just to write this for you.

The Hungry Grease Monkey

The hungry grease monkey, will eat you alive,
he fixes your car when it ceases to drive.

Using his tale just to sell you a clutch,
adjusting the old yet charging as much.

Day 22,282

What pushes my button still pushes my pen,
Like lightning it strikes I never know when.

Fishing for the words in a pond full of silt,
Baiting each breath with reason for guilt.

Panning for gold when apprised there is none,
Is like telling a child not to stare at the sun.

Struck by good luck, I soon came to find,
The words then missing now stuck in my mind.

More buttons to push with a pen running dry,
I look to the heavens for more than just sky.

Season of reason buds a rose of new hue,
May our roses once read grow red roses anew.

PS:
Take an (o) from good and what-d'you-got, it's God for short and it's He I sought.

may now / begin anew / may forever / begin for you

There is nothing more enlightening than a g(o)od lightning strike!! amen

Cross your eyes and dot your tees,
I'm still waiting for hell to freeze.

Cross your tees and dot your eyes,
Heaven on earth to my suprise.
