SETUP:
This stop action high speed photo of a water balloon exploding on the tip of an arrow required the use of a laser trigger beam tripper with the beam placed just above the tip of an arrow which was mounted to a small stand. Soft-lights to the left and right of the shaft were placed to light the balloon and the blue mylar backdrop. A delay module was used to adjust the delay before triggering an electronic cable release . I stood behind the backdrop holding the balloon in both hands to maintain it's round shape before releasing it directly onto the arrow. The resulting photo caught the water frozen by electronic flash with the red balloon skin still ripping away.
